Lab in a Box is a mobile science laboratory, built in a 20 foot shipping container. It comes fully equipped with both science gear and an educator. The gear includes microscopes, centrifuge, fully automated weather station, geological hammer, astronomy telescope, Oculus rift, 3D printer, DNA model structure, transilluminator, PCR machine and a multitude of ways to blow stuff up as well as lots more.
Open FREE to the public from 3.30-5pm Monday to Wednesday, come along and get hands on with experimental science. Situated at Wakatipu High School carpark on Gorge Road. This Leading Edge event is part of inSight – Queenstown’s annual science, technology and future week.
Primary schools will visit Lab in a Box during the day, and local teachers have requested further science equipment and materials to suit their students’ areas of study.
Lab in a Box is for rural communities that aren’t readily exposed to science or scientists. It is designed to be a resource to excite school students, communities and teachers about experimental science. https://labinabox.nz/
